A large Lobi sculpture of the Djigue region close to Ivory Coast, type yadawora, a sad bateba, the legs are fragemtary, but it´s form is showing a Kulango influence with it´s turned shape. Like many sculptures of the Djigue region the sacrification patina is a little bit different than in the Central Lobi region around Gaou. Kampti or Loropeni. The composition is obvious different than the blood-and kaolin sacriifications which are most popular. The Sankolo wood is extremly hard, weathered and eroded on the back and feet of the sculpture. Old sculptures of this dimension are rare nowadays, but the houses in this area are diffent than in other parts of the Lobi country. Norrmally the houses are to low to post such a large sculpture on an indoor shrine, but in this region the Lobi houses don´t have flattened, they have hipped roofs so a person can stand erected in the indoor rooms and there are no difficulties to post also larger sculptures inside.
