One the first view this male sculpture seams to be a familiar sculpture of the wellknown Kampti style, but it is a little bit differnt: the cubistic stylized shoulder and breast part of the figure is more similar to the Ivory Coast sculptures of the Lobi country, while the Kampti style is more "smooth" and less angular, less "cubistic". I don´t know this sculpture is coming from the Kampti or from the Ivory part of the Lobi country. Anyhow it seems to be important to look more careful to the large number of "Kampti-carvers" with its sometimes derivative, but always strongly traditional bounded styles also nowadays. This sculpture is from the heritage of a wellknown Lobi-dealer, who died about ten years ago. More infos on request. Carved in heavy, hard sankolo wood.
