A fragmentary Lobi couple from the region around Djigoué, close to the border of Ivory Coast, with bulging crescent eyes, the smaller male sculpture with a comb-like hairdress and a pigtail at the back; the nearly blackened oxidised sankolo wood with a heavy sacrification patina of kaolin and and encrusted blood of many layers, longlasting ritual use, at least one arm was broken at the shoulder and was fixed together in an unprofessional way; sculptures of this age and size become rare nowadays.
