A Bamana Maternity, seated on a one legs stool, holding its child close to the abdomen, the elongated pigtails are verifying a high ranking woman like the wife of the "chief de village" or the "warlord", wearling a cap in the traditional manner of the Bamana women until the earky 1920th. Nowadays these headdresses don´t exist anymore.
