A Bamana Maternity of the Sonango village from the opposite side of the river, ca 90 km from Segou. Sometimes it is difficult to pinpoint a sculpture of it´s stylistical provenance, so we can only mention, where it is under the aspects of cross-researches collected. Standing on large wedgeshaped feet, slightly bent legs and a jutting abdomen, the torso with conical breasts, rectangular shoulders, a trapezoid neck is supporting a globular head with a concave fascial plane, a small pointed mouth, the elongated, slender nose is framed by carved button eye., in the hands of the mother a tiny child close to the navel; blackened, aged patina.
