A large Malinke Maternity, seated on an abstract stool, carrying a child on it´s back, the elongated lower legs ending up in shortened thighs and prominent buttocks, the arms carved close to the body with hands resting at the knees, large protruding breasts are placed at an columnar torso, the shoulders rectangular with an overhanging bladebone, which is characteristic for most of the Malike sculptures, the rectangular formed head with fine fascial features surmounted by a crown-like coiffure decorated with small iron-rings at the middle-ridge, pigtails on ech side of the head and at the back; heavy, hard karité wood, weathered and with signs of intensive, long-lasting ritual use, several fine age-cracks in particular at the shoulders, natural brownish, partly shiny patina.
