A male Baule sculpture, upraising from a rectangular base, large, flattened feet, scarification patterns around the navel, the abdomen slightly protruding, one arm close to the body, the other touching the goatee, the large ovoid face covered with thick layers of kaolin, a sacrification patina, which is not unusual for tribally used Baule statues, but normally washed off, because it is more "attractive" for most of the collectors, who like to see the fascial plane of a carving. These sculptures in it´s original condition become rare nowadays; aged patina with significant traces of use. Collected 1991 near Boundialy, Ivory Coast
