A so called female "Yobé" sculpture, Northern Nigeria, it describes probably more the region than an ethnic group. Many of these small tribes in the Northern part of Nigeria are unknown. But since Boko Haram rules this part of the country many people are refugees. In order to pay for their escape to Niger, figures from this region have appeared on the market in recent times, which are art historical unknown or nearly unknown. Can we buy, can we deal with them, if they appear on the "Grand Carefour Lomé", (the biggest market for African Art in West Africa) ? The Hague Land Warfare Order prohibits the export of artefacts from conflict areas. But does this also apply if people are helped to flee from the horror rule of a Boko Haram? A difficult question.
