A large Baule maternity in a remarkable position. Collecected close to Yamoussoukro, Bouaflé region. Unlike most other Baule maternities, this old figure holds her child in a position as if the mother wanted to give her child to someone else. Fine, shiny, blackened patina, the circular base and parts of the feet are eroded, signs of ritual use and age, thebroken hands were repaired by authentic craftmansship with fabric strings.
