A Baule couple, Ivory Coast, posted on a plinth, flattened feet, short legs ending up in prominent buttocks, well emphasized genitals, the arms carved close to the body with hands touching the abdomen close to the pointed navel, the male has pectoral muscles pronounced, the female has tapering, hanging breasts and accentuated shoulder blades, both have a conical neck supporting an oval head with a finely stylized mouth beneath a flat nose framed by open almond-shaped eyes with high eyebrow arches, semicircular ears, the male wears a beard, both have different scarification patterns all over the sculpture, capped by a very precisely worked hairstyle; a brown patina, traces of age and ritual use, provenance Amadou Bouaflé.
