A fragmentary Igala Helmet mask, ears and eyes covered with remnants of kaolin; natural brown to greyish patina. 

The Igala tribe lives in southeastern Nigeria the crossriver area of Niger and Benue . They are using helmet masks of lightweight, brown wood, richly decorated with lines in relief. This type of mask is representing ‘Egu’, the spirit of the dead, and are used during harvest festivals.
