A single Ibeji. The base is round, the legs are short and very strong, the hands rest on the thighs, the hair on the pubes is marked as are the nipples, the navel is protruding, the breasts are standing out, the shoulders are narrow and straight, he wears a „fila eleti aja“, a dog-ears-cap, the eyes are big with an elongated elliptical shape, they are bulging and bordered all around, the eyebrows meet in the middle and are connected with the very long nose; shiny dark brown patina, remains of washing blue on the fila eleti aja, three rows of colorful striped beads around the belly. This Ibeji could well be Ekiti because of the Islamic triangle on the chest and back (which is common in Ekiti, Igbomina and Ilorin Ibejis). The eyes fit to some Ekiti types, too. Ibejis with a smiling mouth are common among the Igbomina. However, the Igbomina Ibejis usually have more pointed ears. This semicircular ear shape rather indicates Ilorin or Ekiti. In any case the small Ibeji originates from the north-east of the Yoruba empire. Lit.: Hanni Jantzen, Ludwig Bertsch, Doppel-Leben. Ibeji - Zwillingsfiguren der Yoruba,1993.
