A Baule Goli mask, of hollowed oval form and curved profile, a rectangular, protruding mouth with carved rows of teeth, an elongated flattened nose, tubular eyes, pierced through beneath, the face with a heart-shaped facial plane, zoomorphic ears, tapped by diagonal striated curved horns, scarification marks on the temples, encircled by square patterns, pierced through at the rim for attachment; black, red and white pigments, traces of age, ritual use, cracks and partly eroded, incl. stand.

"Goli can be performed both as an entertainment and for the funerals of important men. It is striking but relatively safe, having few complicated interdictions. It is a popular spectacle with villagers but can also be performed on national television, for government dignitaries, or for foreigners."
