A Baule mask, Ivory Coast, of hollow oval form, with a goatee beard, a small pointed mouth, a slender nose framed by crescent-shaped slit eyes with high arched brows, scarification marks on the temples, vertical ridge in relief to the center of the forehead, hemispherical ears with a semicircular embedded in the middle, wearing intricately incised coiffure, encircled by diagonal striated patterns, symmetrical projections on both sides of the face and a comb-like ornament on top of the head, pierced through at the rim for attachment; light-colored wood, traces of age, ritual use and several old authentic repairs around the mouth, small agecracks inparticular on the forehead, incl. stand.
