A female Baule sculpture, Ivory Coast, seated on a three leg stool, short legs ending up in prominent buttock, well emphasized genitals, a slender torso with a pointed navel and prominent scarification marks, arms carved close to the body with large hands touching the abdomen, hanging, tapering breast, emphasized shoulder blades, an elongated neck supporting an oval head, a finely curved mouth, a slender slightly concave curved nose framed by large open eyes with high eyebrow arches, semicircular ears, scarification marks all over the sculpture, capped by a fine striated coiffure; black patina, traces of age, ritual use and cracks.
