A female Senufo, rhythm pounder, deble, Ivory Coast, standing on a tall cylindrical base, slender slightly bent legs terminating in prominent buttocks, an abstract elongated torso with pointed navel surrounded by ornamental scarification patterns, arms resting on thighs, one ring on each wrist and upper arms, solid, tapering breasts, rounded shoulders, an elongated cylindrical neck supporting an oval head with a sloping heart-shaped facial plane, a protruding mouth with rows of teeth beneath a long nose framed by heavy lidded eyes under high eyebrows, flat semicircular ears, further scarification marks on the face and over the breasts, capped by a domed coiffure; fine reddish patina, traces of age and use, incl. stand.
