A Bwa zoomorphic helmet mask, region Bobodioulasso, Burkina Faso, of hollowed form and large proportions, an elongated snout and open mouth with tongue beneath pierced bulging, rectangular-shaped eyes, a raised ridge running perpendicular, at back of helmet carved spiralling horns, framed by two large zoomorphic-ears, the front of the mask decorated with incised checkerboard patterns, around the rim pierced through for attachment; traces of white, black and white patina, age and ritual use, several cracks and old authentic repairs on the right side at back of the mask, incl. stand.
