A Senufo Kpelié mask, village Dikodougou, Ivory Coast, of hollowed oval form, a pointed mouth beneath a slender nose framed by pierced slit eyes, a domed forehead, linear decorative scars on both cheeks and around the mouth, surmounted by chameleon, framed by elaborate abstract appendages, pierced through at the rim for attachment; reddish encrusted patina, traces of age and ritual use, incl. stand.
