A Senufo maternity, Ivory Coast, standing with flattened feet on a rounded base, bent legs, wears an apron, a slender, elongated torso with a pointed navel and tapering, solid breasts, a rounded shoulders, the waist decorated with several rings, arms carved close to the body, holding two children in its hands, notched back line, a columnar neck supporting an elongated head with a heart-shaped face, a protruding mouth beneath a long nose with prominent nostrils, downcast demi-lune eyes framed by large ears, symmetrical scarification marks on the face and the body, a striated threeparted coiffure with a ponytail at the back of the head; reddish to dark brown patina, traces of age und use, partly eroded.
