A male Lobi sculpture, Bateba, of the Youl Bolaré workshop, Bonko, Burkina Faso, standing on wedge-like feet, the rectangular shoulders terminating in elongated flattened arms carved close to the body and resting on the upper legs, the strong, short neck supporting a large spherical head with a heart shaped face, a wide, slightly open mouth beneath a sshort nose with prominent nostrils, framed by crescent-shaped eyes and thick brows, c-shaped ears with a significant tragus, wearing a cap-like coiffure; brown patina with remnants of sacrification, traces of age, several cracks and holes, party eroded.
