A Dan maternity, Ivory Coast/Liberia, seated on a two-legged stool, the shape of the legs of the stool is similar to the legs of the figure, block-shaped feet, muscular legs ending up in prominent buttocks, a columnar torso with hanging, tapering breasts, broad powerful shoulders leading to bent arms holding a child in its hands, and another one is clinging to her back looking sidewise, the ridged cylindrical neck supporting a spherical head, protruding diamond-shaped lips, slit eyes, arched high brows, fine scarification marks in geometrical motif on the mother's torso and on the child’s back, capped by a striated three parted coiffure; brown encrusted patina with traces of age and ritual use.
