A female Lobi vessel carrier, standing on sturdy feet, slightly bent legs, a torso with protruding navel, tapering breasts, the upstretched arms holding a round vessel, the head disproportionate in size; natural patina with handle parts.

For related specimens see. Piet Meyer, Art and Religion of the Lobi, Rietberg Museum, Zurich, 1981: 137.

Remarkable is the sacrification patina of most of these 6 figures we have collected on our tour June 2012. The subject of these figures are looking more like sculptures carved for the Western market with it´s gestures like a farmer, a hunter etc. But without any doubt they have a real sacrification patina. Another figure, like this one with it´s crossed arms has a an extremly rare gesture. For me these figures coming from ritual use are areenigmatic because they don´t fit to the usual Lobi-subjects, which first abstract expressions Piet Meyer described.
