A Baule double mask, twin mask, Ivory Coast, of hollowed oval form, two faces are carved side by side in one block, both faces show the same triangular goatee beard, a pointed mouth with square lips beneath a long narrow nose, pierced crescent-shaped eyes, scarification marks at the corners of the mouth, on the forehead and cheeks, a very fine grooved hairline and a single crest striated coiffure, pierced through at the rim for attachment; heavy wood, blackened patina with traces of age and ritual use, several cracks, partly eroded, an old authentic repair atop of the mask, incl. stand.
