A Wè mask (also called Guéré and Kran in Liberia), Ivory Coast/Liberia, of hollowed oval form, a semi-spherical open mouth, a broad nose framed by bulging slit eyes beneath high arched brows, protruding cheekbones, triangular striated ornaments on the forehead, atop of the head an iron nail, the beard made of fibre, the mask pierced through at the rim for attachment; blackened patina, traces of age and ritual use, incl. stand.
