A Dogon terracotta sculpture, once used as a diviner-instrument, with circular pierced, eyes, nostrils, mouth and ears; varied grey to reddish patina. These Dogon sculptures are not described in the literature. Nowadays they have become rare because no one is interested in them. Tribal Art objects that have not been collected, even if they are 100 per cent authentic, have no chance of surviving. High prices are paid when they are discovered in ethno-literature. The market is sometimes blind if a Tribal Art object has not been published in a book. sold Height: 12 cm |
