A female Baule sculpture, of the Central Bouaké region, Ivory Coast, posted on a base, sitting on a finely elaborated four legged stool, the strong legs ending in prominent buttocks, a slender torso with a pointed navel and conical-shaped breasts, rounded shoulders leading to slightly bent arms carved close to the body, the hands resting on the upper legs, notched back line, the ridged cylindrical neck supporting an almost spherical head, a narrow-lipped slightly open mouth beneath a broad nose, almond-shaped eyes which are bordered all around, arched, patterned brows, three linear scarification marks above the bridge of the nose, the ears in the shape of a mirror-image c, scarification marks on the cheeks, the head capped by a two parted striated coiffure; fine shiny patina of various coloured surface, traces of age and ritual use.
