A Baule Equestrian figure from the region Bouafle and Yamoussoukroa, probably from Baonfla village, Ivory Coast, horse with full carved face, carrying a rider, with sturdy legs, rounded buttocks, wearing a cloth encircling the hips, a slender torso with a projecting navel, emphasized pectoral muscles and nipples, the toros decorated with rhomboid scarification marks on the front and the backside, rounded shoulders leading to arms carved close to the body and angled, holding the rein in both hands, an elongated cylindrical neck supporting an oval head with striated asymmetric goatee, a mouth with full lips, a broad flattened nose, the thick high arched brows connected and merging into the nose, crescent-shaped eyes which are bordered all around, large ears with a prominent tragus, further scarification marks at the corners of the mouth, on the cheeks, temples, above the nose, on the forehead and on the neck, the head capped by a striated five-parted coiffure; dunkel brown patina, traces of age and ritual use, several cracks.
