A male Baule sculpture from the region Tiebissou, Ivory Coast, posted on a base, sitting on a finely elaborated one-legged stool, muscular legs ending in prominent buttocks, each knees encircled by three rings, a slender torso with emphasized pectoral muscles and nipples, rounded shoulders leading to angled arms touching the elongated goatee, wearing four armlets around right upper arm and three around left arm, the torso is decorated with scarification marks on the front and the backside, the shoulder-blades pronounced, notched back line, the elongated cylindrical neck supporting an ovoid head with a heart-shaped facial plane, a slightly open mouth, the elongated nose leading to high arched brows, almond-shaped eyes which are bordered all around, further scarification marks on the cheeks, temples, on the forehead and on the neck, the head capped by a sophisticated four-parted coiffure; dark brown to light brown patina with traces of kaolin, signs of age and ritual use, several cracks, damages on the stool.
