A female Senufo rhythm pounder, déblé, Ivory Coast, standing on a tall cylindrical base, slender slightly bent legs terminating in prominent buttocks, an abstract elongated torso with pointed navel surrounded by scarification marks, the arms resting on the hips, one ring on each wrist, small, pointed breasts, rounded shoulders, an elongated cylindrical neck supporting an oval head with a sloping heart-shaped facial plane, a protruding mouth with rows of teeth, a curved nose framed by heavy lidded, closed eyes, semicircular ears, further scarification marks on the shoulders, face and above the breasts, capped by a domed coiffure with a kind of small pony-tail; fine dark patina, on the arms numerous dents which are traces of age and use.
