A female Senufo sculpture, from the region Korhogo, village M'Bengué, Ivory Coast, sitting on a round, finely elaborated four legged stool, short feet and legs leading to prominent gluteae, wearing a small apron that covers neither the buttocks nor the vulva, a slender torso with a protruding abdomen and a pointed navel, large tapering breasts, rounded powerful shoulders leading to arms with an armlet on both upper arms and a bracelet on both wrists, displaying scarification marks of linear and rhomboid patterns, extremely long and slender neck supporting an elongated head with a prominent jaw, a protruding round mouth showing the gritted teeth, the long and slender nose is connected to the forehead and eyebrows, bulging eyes, further scarification marks on the cheeks, the hairstyle crested with one braid hanging over the forehead, one on each side and one at the back of the head; brownish to reddish patina with traces of age and long lasting ritual use, several cracks.
