A Baule mask, Bouaké, Sakassou village, Ivory Coast, of oval elongated facial form, diamond-shaped mouth underneath a long nose with prominent nostrils merging into high arching patterned eyebrows and nose joined in the middle by small scarification marks, pierced crescent-shaped eyes, scarification marks at the corners of the mouth, temples and forehead, grooved hair structure, a surrounding carved zigzag ornament in front of the attachment rim; dark patina, traces of age and ritual use.
