A female Senufo Ancestor sculpture, Northern/East Ivory Coast, region of Tingréla, close to Korhogo, normally also subsumed to the so called déblé, rising from a thick conical base, the straight, shortened legs with great tension leading to the tight hips, the swayed lenticular torso framed by the square shoulders, carved armbands at the elbows leading to the faceted forearms with hands resting on the hips, the tapering neck supporting a head with strongly projecting chin and scooped facial plane, straight noses bisecting the downturned eyes and C-shaped ears, the headdress surmounted by a disc with an openwork cross in the center; exceptionally fine deep brown patina with remnants of red, occre, and white pigments, touch-patina at the neck and on the arms.
