A pair of two Baule masks from the sakassou region with female and male part.
female mask: A hollowed mask, the coiffure with fine lines in the shape of a chameleon-like animal with round head and paws resting on the crown and spreading its four limbs on the skull; semicircular eyebrows with pierced almond-shaped eyes, a pointed mouth under a long, concave curved narrow nose, scarification marks on temples, cheeks, chin and forehead, small ears; dark brown patina with traces of age.;
the male mask: hollowed form with broad rim with round holes, the facial part set off with a zigzag band running around, ending above the forehead with the figure of a monkey, its front paws resting on the forehead with scarification marks, at the temple positions half circles with ornaments consisting of zigzag lines, high arched eyebrows set off with two stripes, carved almond-shaped eyes, triangular nose, protruding mouth; dark brown patina, traces of age.
