A seated Senufo maternity, Ivory Coast, perched on four-legged round stools, short, narrow ringed legs, elongated torso with tapering breasts, broad rounded shoulders, long and slender bent arms, palms up, holding a child who sucks from one of her breasts. Scarifications on the hips, back, breasts, cheeks and at the corners of the mouth, the head with stylized facial features has closed almond-shaped eyes, a coiffure with hanging plaits resting on the shoulders, an element that protrudes over the forehead and one braid reaching down the back; heavy hardwood, dark patina with signs of age.
