A Hemba cascade female figure, standing on a rounded base, knees slightly bent, protruding navel, her two hands are touching her chest, her thick ringed neck is carrying a rather large head, the features of the face are calm, relaxed, emphasized by a half opened mouth and closed eyes, the nose ridge is punctuated by small copper nails that continue onto the forehead, the hairdo is pulled back into the typical Hemba style, cascading downwards. What is most striking with this sculpture is the detailed diamond scarification and raised keloids that can be found on the stomach, the back, the chest, and the cheeks; some cracks at the base and through out, glossy by use.

"The Luba peoples occupy a land of rivers and savanna in the southeast of what is today Democratic Republic of Congo. As early as the seventeenth century, Luba society consisted of an extensive, centrally organized state structured on the principles of divine kingship and rule by council."
