A fragmented relief plaque, Nigeria, in the style of a Benin bronze plaque, with a floral background, the figure represents probably a messenger, dressed with simple attire, wearing necklaces and amulets, his left arm is holding a bell and an unidentified tool, enigmatic semicircular and circular elevations to the left and right sides of the figure; the bottom of the plaque is missing; badly damaged and oxidized by different layers.

For comparison the uncleaned plaques on Digital Benin, which are still in some Museums. Many Benin plaques were “restored” in the 1960s and 1970s by attempting to restore them to their original condition. Today there is a tendency to leave these bronzes as they were found.
