A small-scale aquarelle and chalk sketch by Irena Klonek, showcasing an abstract composition on an old piece of paper. The unique canvas, adds an extra layer of character to the artwork. The middle background of the sketch is mostly solid white done in gouache, providing a clean neutral base for the composition. The sides are left plain, creating an additional rough and expressive textured background. The bottom, left and middle are energized by a rough dark green, orange and bright red-brushstroke. Above, diluted yellow spots step over the crammed lines to create nuances of purple, the left side is more empty, with a simple scattered blue brushstroke coming down from the top. There are black chalk stroke in a curved way creating more depth and adding a rich and varied movement to the overall scene, in addition to breaking it up. The aquarelle technique allows for the colors to interact organically, giving the sketch a watercolor-like quality. The use of an old page as the canvas adds an intriguing texture and history to the piece. Irena Klonek's skillful application of aquarelle techniques brings life to this abstract composition, inviting viewers to appreciate the interplay of colors and the unique surface on which the artwork is presented. The work is stuck on a thicker paper |
