A female Hemba figure, kneeling on a rounded base, a protruding navel, she is holding a delicately carved bowl, her thick neck is carrying a rather large head, that together with the hair form an abstracted diamond shape, the facial features are calm, relaxed, emphasized by a small closed mouth and slit eyes, the hairdo is pulled back into the typical Hemba style with seven tails. What is most striking with this sculpture is the detailed diamond scarification and raised keloids that can be found on the stomach, the back, the chest, and the arms; some cracks at the base and through out, glossy by use. Certificate of origin and provenance.

"The Luba peoples occupy a land of rivers and savanna in the southeast of what is today Democratic Republic of Congo. As early as the seventeenth century, Luba society consisted of an extensive, centrally organized state structured on the principles of divine kingship and rule by council."
