A female Baule sculpture, Ivory Coast, seated on a one-legged stool, muscular legs leading to rounded hips, a slender torso with a protruding navel, very pointed breasts and square shoulders, the hands touch the stool, a cylindrical neck supporting an oval head, a small mouth beneath a slim nose framed by large, half-closed eyes, bordered all around, the whole figure is covered with scarification patterns of varied geometric motifs, capped by a sophisticated striated coiffure; brown patina, traces of age and ritual use.
