A Baule mask, Ivory Coast, of oval hollowed form, the chin with a stylish goatee beneath an opened mouth, a slender nose with a pointed tip, elaborated heavy lidded eyes, surmounted by eyebrows which reach far down, hemispherical ears, scarification marks on the forehead, temples, cheeks, above the bridge of the nose and at the corners of the mouth, the outline of the face is surrounted by a carved zigzag line, the rim is pierced through for attachment, surmounted by an elaborate headdress; a brown patina, traces of age and ritual use. Certificate of origin and provenance.
