A Luba female figure, Democratic Republic of Congo, standing on a disk like platform, feet flat and planted on the platform, thick short legs and protruding buttocks, the hands resting on her prominent abdomen with elaborate geometric scarifications on each side and further up her torso, her lower back and above her conical breasts, rounded shoulders and thick neck carries a relatively large head; her face with pouted lips and arrow like nose, her eyes are squinted with slightly raised eyebrows; her forehead is prominent and is separated by a grooved band from the hair which has a knot on top and the coiffure at the back of the head with two rows of grooved disc like coiffure. Dark brown patina, signs of use. Certificate of origin and provenance.
