A Baule female figure, Ivory Coast, sitting on a round base, the hands resting on the thighs, conical breasts; multiple scarifications of geometric motifs across her torso, neck, back and face; her face with a pursed lips, narrow nose that splits into the eyebrows, large squinted eyes, small ears; a linear three parted coiffure tied together in the back. The sculpture has several cracks on the back and the base. Dark, aged patina; signs of ritual use. Provenance of Amadou Bouaflé, Abidjan, Ivory Coast. sold Height: 52 cm |
