A Bronze Bowman, in the style of Tada, Nigeria, probably from the Jebba island or the Nupe village of Tada,standing barefoot on a platform, anklets made of chains and strung with cowrieshells, quilted armor with a handle of a knife sticking out on the chest; one arm is severed and the other arm is carrying a fragmentary part of a tool and is carrying a quiver on its back; a large necklace around its neck covering the neck and the face surfacing from it with full lips, small nose and large eyes, the face cast with scarifications cast in geometric patterns; a large cap on the head with a medallion in the center and the rest of the cap covered with hair like metal strings. Signs of oxidation and minor damages from erosion on the base and the left back (see detail photos; although this large bronze figure is coming from the Nupe speaking region there is oviously a relation to the lower Niger region, in ´particular to the Ife style, with its realistic fascial features and linear scarifications.
