A Bamana Jonyeleni sculpture from the region of Bla close to D´jonka at the borderdestrict between Bamana and Mianka people, standing on large blockshaped feet, a conical protruding abdomen beneath a columnar torso, the shoulders in heartshaped form ending in tapering, hanging breasts, the arms close to the body with angulated, stylized hands, the elongated neck supporting an ovoid head with the single crested coiffure of a young Bamana/Minaka woman; blackened, glossy patina, geometric scarification-patterns all over the figure, the rim of the ears and the nose pierced through by a bunch of metalrings, significant traces of ritual use. It is the first time we collected this type of sculpture, which is probably undescribed in the literature.
